Tip O' the Week

It keeps the original formatting.
numero = 10009
interpreted = N
texte = OK, I know there are a lot of lurkers out there just listening in, and so far it's been a pretty slow talk list. Sooooo, I've decided to start dropping pearls of wisdom here in the hopes that you guys can use them. With the release of WebCatalog 1.6 (thanks, all you great beta testers) WebCatalog can now automatically convert those strange non-standard characters like TradeMark, ellipsis, etc. You can control which letters get translated by using a text editor to modify your WebCatalog Prefs file. Here's what the standard one looks like:CharacterTranslation 1.0 ' '' ' <
... (tm)- -CharacterTranslation End This converts characters like curly-quotes to straight quotes. Change this list by typing the non-standard character at the beginning of a line, then press <, then type up to 15 characters that you want to be output instead. WebCatalog only does this translation for text fields in its database, like [text5]. The main body of your HTML template does not get translated in any way (this is for speed, and because we assume you will clean up your templates).
