Once you learn a few things, other things go much easier. (Standard conformities throughout all the toolset.) And, once you start getting into it, you soon start to realize where just about every other computer idea originated from. ;-)It's a journey, but a journey worth taking.I'm a real fan of linux, but it can be frustrating for those whohaven't worked with it before. It has taken me years to be comfortablewith it.. but many may learn this type of stuff much faster than me.Jaz has been a real bonus regarding the *nix aspect of WebDNA. CICADAwill run great on many of the distros out there. Jaz likes SUSE, I like Ubuntu, Bob likes CentOS.. so take your pick. Any of those work fineand the 64bit option is there for all of them (talk about massivedatabase, listwords, etc.. tasks) ;-)There are some good "quick start" tutorials online to get your serverand services set up fast.A google search for "Perfect Server" and your distro and version shouldbring up some good info.Lastly, there is the school of thought that is do everything by thecommand-line, or use 3rd party administration services.. like Plesk,IPConfig, cPanel etc.... If you are learning linux, I personallythink it is best to start with pure command-line. It won't getyou up nearly as quick, but the information will be there for thelong haul. However, if you need to start making money... :-)Donovan-- Donovan BrookeEuca Design Center[Practical-Ethical-Efficient]www.euca.usegg.bzartglass-forum.com
