texte = Tom, OK, the host (shared server) said they just gave me .htaccess (tho' I have not confirmed that), and they also said that they changed apache to serve utf-8 by default. So even without my messing with .htaccess we can see that here: http://www.sleeperhouse.com/admin/govTestDump/webdnaJStest_utf8.html is indeed being served utf-8 (verified by FF > Tools > Page Info). (Also I checked and see that the ajax page we call is also being auto- served utf-8) (note that for now the ISO page does not work right, since it too is in utf-8 mode.) ...and I am still getting the same results. JS is acting like the UTF page is still ISO. I keep thinking it must be me.. but I just don't see it. Can you keep on tracking this with me to find the issue?
