texte = Dear WebDNA users, After a financially difficult year, we have decided to release WebDNA = 7.0 with an original marketing strategy. WebDNA 7.0 is released as freeware, without any restriction. You can = enjoy all WebDNA capabilities for free. However, we can provide an "accelerator license" for each copy: what we = name an "accelerator license" is a "certificate". An accelerator = certificate will work for a single domain and all the associated = subdomains: you just need one single accelerator certificate for = "domain.com", "www.domain.com", "sub.domain.com" or = "sub.sub.domain.com", even if those domains and subdomains reside on = several physical servers. The certificate is also platform-independant. = The certificate encrypts the domain name and therefore can only run for = a single domain name. We could compare this with a SSL certificate = without expiration date. A WebDNA 7.0 accelerator certificate will work = on any 7.x version, but not for a major revision (8.x for instance). We = will provide an inexpensive upgrade policy in time. Future upgrades will = just be a matter of replacing the fastCGI executable and the certificate = with the new one. Though there is no need for an accelerator certificate (WebDNA 7.0 will = run in "freeware" mode without certificate) it will allow WebDNA 7.0 to = handle simultaneous connections faster and is therefore recommended for = webservers with medium to heavy traffic. Locally (127.0.0.1 or localhost), WebDNA 7.0 will always run in = accelerated mode, making it ideal for the developer. We expect the freeware version to make WebDNA 7.0 a popular product. But we also decided to adopt a very aggressive marketing policy to sell = accelerator licenses: we release WebDNA 7.0 accelerator certificate with = very high discounts (as high as 90%) for volume purchase. We do not know = how long we will maintain those prices, but the generated income will = help the company go forward and improve an already solid FasctCGI = version with a 7.1 version and we encourage you to bring forward the = purchases you planned in the near future. You can buy certificates at http://store.webdna.us/ : it is a = provisioning system: what you buy is a number of certificates that you = can redeem anytime, to make volume purchase an interesting saving = option. Certificates are totally free for education upon simple request by = email. We would really appreciate if you, talk-list members, could help us = build or improve the provided installation README.txt file for each new = platform and webserver software. With its FastCGI interface, WebDNA 7.0 = can run on any linux/unix/freeBSD/OSX/Solaris server using virtually any = webserver software with a FastCGI interface (almost all webservers = available at this time would) and though the number of possible = configuration is high, they should only differ by details. Our next steps will be to make WebDNA language more consistent with an = even faster and lighter engine. There is one more thing: you are entitled to resell the certificates to = your customers, without restriction. We hope this "micro-marketing" will = help increase the popularity of WebDNA. sincerely, Christophe Billiottet President =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D WebDNA Software Corporation 16192 Coastal Highway Lewes, DE 19958 Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
