texte = Grant,Does having the embedded search commands in pages have a slowdown effect on the server? I have one page on our site that has about 7 to 8 searches going on at: http://www.fishingworld.com/News/.I have converted all the random ads in the site, a few [Includes] on some pages and the News area to webcat, which seemed to have slowed down the server some. I have it processing all .html and .tmpl files. We are running on MacTCP still, I tried switching last week to OT 1.1.2 but we were crashing it when we would try to submit a new article to the News database. The smaller stories were not causing problems, but the ones that seemed to be over 4 or 5 paragraphs long would cause webstar to crash with an type 2 error (most of the time it would just unexpectly quit W* but sometimes it would freeze the whole server). I tried bumping the ram up to 32 megs to W* but that made no difference. And I tried it with System 7.6 and 7.5.3 with OT 1.1.2 with and without the Slowdown Patch. The server did run faster with OT but we had the crashing problem, do you think WebTen and their own tcp stack might be our cure to this? Or is their something you can think of that would help the speed. Does that many searches that we have on the News page effect the speed that much? Does having the [Include file] with searches embedded in the included file have more or less of a performance hit? Some info on our server: ---------------- Radius 81/110 40 megs of ram ram doubled w/Ram Doubler 2.01 Speed Doubler 2.01 (or whatever the latest is) WebStar 2.0 MacTCP Connected to Internet via T1 Plug-ins ---------- W* Admin pi W* Image Map pi W* SSI pi Clearly Home pi WEbCatalog 2.0b15 piThanks.
