Answer, seems to be no.Does it seem like it will be a problem?"Has anybody got webcat working on Google Cloud?"Answer seems to be no.My reworked question:1. What is a good, cloud solution, to boot/run high CPU/RAM machines, with high I/O disk speeds, that I can run Webcat on to crunch data, not run a website2. I am looking for metered billing - I only want the machine for as long as I need to run my routines, which I need to speed up to chunk through a stockpile of data. I'm working on a prototype that will be re-written in another language, but for now, I need to use what I've written
I'm looking for raw power and speed for a few days to a week or two at a time, every now and then.
Steve, the only advantage to me, is that I will be deploying other projects to Cloud via App Engine and I'd prefer to have things in as few places as possible. I'm not an expert in these things and have had a few, but limited experiences.
I look at AWS and it's just too much for the most part. I am familiar with google, however, so for some reason, I can deal. I also like google products.I don't know of Linode, they just launched a beta of metered a few days ago and are moving to metered billing it seems w/ caps - http://techcrunch.com/2014/01/29/linode-moves-from-monthly-to-metered-billing/I'm open to suggestions.thanks.d.---------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed tothe mailing listOn Mon, Feb 3, 2014 at 5:12 PM, Stuart Tremain <webdna@idfk.com.au> wrote:Costing has always been a headache with Google & Amazon even to the experts at Amazon who have told me that they find it confusing !!As Bob suggested stick with Linode .....RegardsStuart TremainIDFK Web DevelopmentsAUSTRALIAOn 4 Feb 2014, at 5:21 am, Brian B.
