texte = WebDNA was originally created to run on the Mac OS where spaces in file names were generally not an issue. This is probably why the hard-coded "Email Log.txt" file name was never considered to be a problem. But today, two decades later, logrotate on Ubuntu 14.04 fails to rotate this log file, and the only reason I can think of for this failure is because there's a space in the file name. After all, it works with all the other logs I configured it to rotate, and all the others do not have space characters in their names. Naturally I'm using quote characters around the path to this file in my logrotate script. Theoretically this should resolve this issue -- but it does not -- thus I suspect that the space in the file name is still causing the problem. I know I can create a 'work-around' to this situation, but should a work-around really be necessary? After all, practically all other server software these days allows the user to specify his/her own log file names. Some even allows the use of variables so log files will be rotated automatically ... In my opinion this could be really use in WebDNA. For example, let us specify an email log file name like this in our prefs: webdnaMailLog-[date %Y%m%d] ... and it could cause WebDNA to automatically create a new email log file every day, with no other effort required on our part. Just a thought from someone who would love WebDNA to become more user-friendly as it continues to grow and develop. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! :) Regards, Kenneth Grome WebDNA Solutions http://www.webdnasolutions.com Web Database Systems and Linux Server Management Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
