texte = WebDNA was originally created to run on the Mac OS where spaces infile names were generally not an issue. This is probably why thehard-coded "Email Log.txt" file name was never considered to be aproblem. But today, two decades later, logrotate on Ubuntu 14.04 fails torotate this log file, and the only reason I can think of for thisfailure is because there's a space in the file name. After all,it works with all the other logs I configured it to rotate, andall the others do not have space characters in their names.Naturally I'm using quote characters around the path to this filein my logrotate script. Theoretically this should resolve thisissue -- but it does not -- thus I suspect that the space in thefile name is still causing the problem.I know I can create a 'work-around' to this situation, but shoulda work-around really be necessary? After all, practically allother server software these days allows the user to specifyhis/her own log file names. Some even allows the use of variablesso log files will be rotated automatically ...In my opinion this could be really use in WebDNA. For example, let us specify an email log file name like this in our prefs:webdnaMailLog-[date %Y%m%d]... and it could cause WebDNA to automatically create a new emaillog file every day, with no other effort required on our part.Just a thought from someone who would love WebDNA to become moreuser-friendly as it continues to grow and develop.Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!:)Regards,Kenneth GromeWebDNA Solutionshttp://www.webdnasolutions.comWeb Database Systems and Linux Server Management
