Using a very unscientific means of a stop watch and the same 2 pages over and over again over a 28.8 dial up, always at the same time of the night and flush the client cache everytime, we got the best results using webstar data cache for all images and webcat to do all tmpl and html. This is on a 7100/66 with lots of ram and running mactcp2.0.6 under 7.5.5.The reason for the above comment about way back when, is your question got me to thinking about how far this product has come is such a short period of time.> >-And with WC processing all .html files, does WC's smart caching (which BTW >is a terrific feature) pickup and cache all .html & graphics as it does >with .tmpl stuff? > >-if so, should I adjust (or eliminate) WebStar's own file caching? > >-Also, has anyone performance tested the difference between using Webstar's >standard file logging versus suspending W*'s logging and using WC to track >hits by imbedding WC hit counter code into all required pages?I have counters and date recorders the feed webcat db's on about 100 pages. Haven't used webstar logging in ages. After going over the logs many times with server stat over a period of about a year, the marketing department stopped looking at the data so I turned it off. I think the speed increase is very wery small for no logging in Webstar. I did it so I didn't have to worry about this huge file I was generating :).=============================================== Gary Richter PanaVise Products, Inc. 7540 Colbert Dr. Reno, Nevada 89511 Ph: 702.850.2900 Fx: 702.850.2929 Email: grichter@panavise.com http://www.panavise.com =============================================== Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
