Funny thing is no webcat hits were taking place. No webcat hits for at least 15 minutes in front of the log. Here is some new data that may point to the problem. I recently set webcat to process .htm and .html documents, but I do say process only if it has the . Additionally one of the sites on this server a non-webcat site, with no .htm or .html in the scripts-->webcatalog folder, recently was place on a high profile list, consequently it is railing in hits. I cannot give specifics as to the amount of traffic, but it is significant, my daily log files have gone from 5mb to 25mb overnight. Evidently webcat is looking at even the .html and .htm files that are located in the wwwroot folder. I believe this traffic is what is killing webcat. Possible short term solutions are:1. To turn off .htm and .html files. This is very undesirable because I am using webmerchant to webdeliver a .html file. This file contains webdna that must be processed by webcat. I never could figure out a way to get webmerchant to deliver anything but the webdelivery.html document. Additionally, One of my webcat sites has its root file in the scripts/webcatalog/ directory. and so it must also process the default.htm document that contain cart creators and referrers. Additionally this would only delay the inevitable, that being when one of these webcat websites takes off the .tpl served would eventually kill webcat.2. To move the buzy site off this server and onto another one. This one is not so good, because some of the clients are referred by the IP address. I could do some tricky stuff with redirection and get around this but there would still be an impact on webcat and of course this would only delay the inevitable, that being when one of these webcat websites takes off the .tpl served would eventually kill webcat.
