Here's the current status of http://macfinder.com :1- Grant Hulbert suggested making the 4-12 character limit for usernames and passwords longer so he can use his standard username in that field when he registers. I plan to fix this tomorrow, maybe 25 characters is a better maximum character limit ... (?)2- Dan Cameron and Pat McCormick suggested disposing of the background .gif and instead, coloring the left-side navigation table cell so the nav bar text always appears within the colored area no matter what size font is set in the browser. I've made that change and I think it looks better at all font sizes now ...3- Peter Ostry says 2.x browsers do not support coloured tables, they see your site on an all white background. He also said it actually looks fine all white. That's good ... but it also occured to me that a border around the nav bar, at least when viewed by 2.x browsers, might make it look even better. Then again, I'm not sure it's worth the effort ...By the way, here's an interesting note from Gil Poulsen. He says Apple Computer is using Lasso and FM Pro to handle a similar service that currently lists about 12,000 software and hardware items for Mac computers. Unfortunately I could not find either Typhoon or WebCatalog in that database, and I also don't see any mechanism for PCS to create those listings themselves like they can at MacFinder... so apparently it's up to Apple to pick and choose which items get listed. Anyways, here it is for those interested:http://www.macsoftware.apple.com/Sincerely, Ken Grome 808-737-6499 WebDNA Solutions mailto:ken@webdna.net http://www.webdna.net Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
