Client-side Image Maps and WebCat?

texte =     I have written on this before but perhaps I haven't been clear enough.
I've been trying to figure this out for weeks but I'm still clueless for the most part. : (

I have several large websites that have already been designed. I have a product base of thousands which I will be adding to.

The sites are designed with a homepage, several category pages with each of these categories having many sub-categories (each subcategory will consist of several pages).

The sites are designed for the customer to browse visually an assortment of products in a given sub-catgory before making a selection (or not).

Multiple products are displayed on one large graphic which has buy now buttons next to each of the various products. (There are several pages like this within each subcategory).

I do not know in what way to bring in WebCat. Should each of my buy nows be an URL address leading to WebCats showcart part? Or should it lead to the database part? How is this done?

I'm running WebTen so I had thought the image map graphics would be sent by the server with WebCat being brought in when a buy now button is clicked.

Soooo . . .

If someone can give me an explanation of how to do this I'd be very grateful. I'm afraid I'm just not getting it. I feel really dense.
I've looked in the manuel, and I've hunted thru the mail archives but I still don't understand how to use WebCat with what I have.

Do I use the database version of the store? I want to be able to use WebCat's many functions too but as of right now I still don't understand how to use WebCat to work with the products within my site design.

(And please no suggestions for doing the sites with one graphic per product etc. as months of design work have already been done. My sites exsist visually already. I just need to figure out how to make WebCat work with what I have.)

Once I know how to do the process I then have to do it to hundreds of  client-side image maps. So being stuck like this for weeks is very grim. : (

How do I use WebCat for this type of site design?

Thanks,
