texte = No, there's no affiliation. When I went out to code it, I took the better parts of a lot of different messageboard systems that were currently available. There are actually a few messageboards written in some variation of PERL/MySQL, etc.. that look similar to the UltimateBB as well. But no. I've never downloaded UBB, never seen their code.
