If you are on a Unix based system, most likely each virtual host where you want to use Webcat must be configured for it.The mystery is suffix mapping: A server simply looks for file extensions. In your server configuration you will find a list of all suffixes the server handles (.html .gif .tpl etc). And for each suffix is noted, what the server has to do with this type of files. If Webcat already runs on your machine, have a look at the line containing .TPL - you'll see that this suffix is reserved for Webcat. You can even invent your own suffixes and tell the server what to do with them. They work only on your server, of course. What really happens is this: A Browser requests a file index.tpl - the server looks for the file on disk, sees the extension .tpl, scans his own suffix list and shakes his head No, this is not my Job. Go to Webcat first! Webcat takes the file, reads all the code, interprets all Webcat tags - and crashes :) No, not everytime. The output is plain HTML and goes back to the webserver who sends it to the browser.
