If you don't have the specific business need, you can simply choose to continue to run 4.5.1 and pay regular price later if you decide at some point that you do have a use for the 5.0 features. As for the 'if' context issue recently brought up in the talk list ... Scott Anderson is investigating, but I can tell you there was no intentional change in behavior. Scott doesn't recall changing any code in this area. Is it possible the behavior changed through some unintended side-effect of code changes in another area? Yes, it's possible, but as a general rule we don't make changes to the behavior of tags specifically because such usage gets 'grandfathered' into existence by the installed base. We will provide this list with any factual information we find as soon as possible.Phil B.-----Original Message----- From: Kenneth Grome [mailto:kengrome@webdna.net] Sent: Sunday, March 16, 2003 8:24 PM To: WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com Subject: Re: 5.0 Preview Promotion Extension>Special Pre-release pricing on WebdNA 5.0 has been extended through March >31st. I'm not sure I want to pay for an untested, unproven, and unreleased major version of this software, especially after the catastrophic release of the last major release -- which took SMSI something like 6 months before they finally got most (but not all) of the bugs fixed. Not only that, but one of our colleagues just found another major bug in the if context in the current version! This bug was undocumented and unreported by SMSI in any release notes, and it apparently broke the existing web sites of all users who genuinely trusted the recent 4.5.1upgrade (and who also use the if context in their web sites). Breaking existing web sites is never a good thing for an upgrade to do.
