texte = Client wants me to implement the 'email this story to a friend' function on their websites. No problem in accomplishing it, however, my SPAM alert is going off real loud...I can just see someone abusing the hell out of this. For instance, I just went to Yahoo! and sent myself a story from a random email address that I made up. Not good. What's to stop me from using a proxy server to mask my IP, then go to Yahoo!, send a story to each of you, along with a nasty personal message (or worse, an ADVERTISEMENT...boo hiss), and make the FROM address my arch-enemy's email? Well, what's to stop me other than the fact that I have a conscience? But you get the point.Doesn't this open my client (and then me, since I'll have to deal with it...) up to SPAMCOP hell, etc? They have their own servers/routers/network, etc., so any problems will be confined to them, but this still seems like a huge, gaping vulnerability (legal and otherwise) to leave in a company, no?I thought I could send an email back to the specified FROM address and require them to click a link (and thus verify themselves as the sender)... but Yahoo! just sends a note along with the story that says Email address has not been verifiedAny thoughts? Thanks and sorry for the long post.-Dan------------------------------------------------------------http://www.StrongGraphicDesign.com(208) 319-0137 | Toll-free p/f 877-561-1656-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list
