texte = =20 It's hard to top customer testimonials ...=20 One thing I wanted to add that I'm sure people haven't yet had a chance to try out is our new "WebDNA SiteBuilder" that we've added in v6.0. This is basically a greatly re-worked website admin panel that allows you to easily manipulate and customize site navigation, colors, graphics, layout, user accounts, security, commerce, etc. It also includes built-in functionality, e.g., while Commmerce Edition has all the eCommerce features that you are accustomed to, all Editions include the Intranet features of calendar, documents, news, directory, etc., that you can selectively enable or disable from your site via the SiteBuilder. =20 SiteBuilder also adds a new website security model where you can administer what areas of your site are visible to different 'groups' of users, i.e., if you are not logged in, you will only see page navigation and content for 'public' areas. If you log in, then your group membership will determine what additional navigation links/tabs become visibile to you. This group membership also extends to many of the built in content areas, e.g., you can assign user groups to categories of photos, documents, news, etc., which then means that you have to be logged in as a member of that group to view any content in those categories. If you perform a search, and that search finds 'secure' content that you don't have access to, it will only tell you that it "found N secure items" ... You can only view them if you log in with the appropriate group to view those items. This allows SiteBuilder to be used for both Extranet and Intranet type applications as well as public-facing eCommerce sites. The new SiteBuilder greatly assists two different user communities: If you are a non-technical customer that just wants to deploy a website quickly, you can perform an extraordinary amount of customization in the look and feel of your site, and use much of the built in functionality without having to do any programming. If you are a highly technical customer, e.g., a web developer, you can easily add your own templates and value-add functionality to the framework presented by SiteBuilder, including adding the administrative areas for your custom work to the SiteBuilder admin. Thus, as a website developer, you can easily use Sitebuilder as a rapid development framework for putting together the layout, navigation, graphics, and color schemes of your 'custom' site, then spend your main effort on the value-added functionality you are building for your own customers without having to build the entire site admin piece yourself. =20 You can even mix-and-match WebDNA templates with templates in other scripting languages very simply using SiteBuilder as a framework. Each 'page' is broken down into a left, center, and right 'pane', and each pane can be pointed directly at a WebDNA template or HTML file, or a template written in another scripting language simply through the use of page navigation admin ... Note that using a non-WebDNA scripting template within SiteBuilder would require selecting the use of an Iframe for that pane. Key note: the Intranet features included in the v6.0 SiteBuilder are now unencrypted, so WebDNA developers can also take them and 'enhance' them to your own needs. If you're feeling generous towards the WebDNA community, you might think of posting your enhancements to the DRC download area :-). If you have experience in both, I would really appreciate your comments, however brief. I am at this stage still open to making a switch to another software package since I have not gone down too far any tracks of large development. I am not really too concerned with a $value comparison but rather in features/security/ease/speed of building more complex multi-user based custom web applications. Thank you in advance for your time to comment Cheers Chris BOOST SMP LTD PH: (09) 361 2263 FAX: (09) 361 2264 WEB: www.boost-smp.co.nz ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
