texte = Hello, I am trying to decide on new medical practice management software, that we'll use for our two offices. We've narrowed our choice down to two different vendors. One vendor uses Pervasive SQL, the other uses Sybase. The marketing package from the vendor that uses Sybase says the following: True client-server architecture: ----------------------------------------- Only PracticeWorks offers a client-server Windows-based system, providing unsurpassed data security, data integrity, and multi-location support. If you're not using client-server technology, you're using outdated technology. NOTE: Due to misuse and misunderstanding of the term "client-server", you unfortunately cannot simply take someone's word for it. Find out what database the program uses (Sybase, Oracle, Informix, DB2, and MS SQL Server are the only commercial-grade true client server databases in existence). Find out if the application is loaded on each workstation individually. Data will *never* need to be reindexed: ----------------------------------------------------- By using a commercial-grade database, if a process is ever interrupted, the database will "roll-back" to its previous state. With WinOMS CS, data integrity is unsurpassed. Any thoughts/comments on the above statements? How does Pervasive stack up against Sybase? I plan to develop Web based WebDNA templates that will gather patient data for one of these two vendor's programs - is Pervasive or Sybase a preferred choice for ease of integration with WebDNA? We want to have the database housed at one office and have the clients from the other office connect to it. Any gotchas to watch for there? Any other questions I need to ask?
