Well, I have been using this app for quite some time for my clients. My intention was to make money off this application by packaging it up and selling it in a few different ways. It is a lot of code and a lot of features... very helpful features. In fact, it totally changed the way I do business and turned interacting with clients from a mess of emails and mis-understandings into a trouble free system of communications and records. It is not limited to people who offer coding services. It allows one to keep track of products and services as well. I am trying to decide what to do with this build. The talk about a forum got me thinking about it (since there is a link to the build from the forum link that I posted). Though I don't know for sure what I want to do with it, I have taken the protection off the build and decided to open it up for all of you to play with. When I say "play", I should really say study. This is more an application that needs some instruction to use. Here is a basic rundown (* should read on when you have time ;-)*): The system is designed to flow in this way: I will use a moch job that Is actually currently in the system as an example. --------------------------------------------------------- The johndoe inc. company comes to you and wants you to quote on a project. they provide a spec for you to look over. - - - - - - - Here is how the system works. THE QUOTING SYSTEM: Everything Starts with a Quote. You are first asked to enter the customer information in. You start by adding "line items" of services. This may make more sense when you are "playing" with it. You add, for example, the purchase of the domain along with the cost for that product/service. Once you are done with all the lineitems... you can save the quote. You are taken to an overview of the quote. Here you can send it to the customer (via email), print it out to send via snail mail, or there are a number of other ways in the works to get it to the customer. Once the customer gets the email quote, they are provided with a link to there quote on line. They can add dialog there if they are still not quite sure about approving the quote. Or, they can approve the quote on-line. If the customer is not really internet savy, they have the option of asking you to approve it. Lets back up one minute. THE PROPOSAL SYSTEM: There is also a proposal system. This proposal system is based around the quoting system. Let say the job is involved and requires a more proffessional "proposal" rather than just a quote with numbers. This build has a system that lets you put together html/css that interacts with the quote. It is an option available for the quoting process. You first create the quote. then click on "Proposals". When you start a new proposal, it will ask you for the quote to "link" with. You select it from a drop down and proceed from there. The user has to know about html/css to use this feature! THE APPROVAL: Once the customer is satisfied with everything, wether it be the proposal or the simple numbers from the quote, they approve the quote on-line. This action creates an invoice automatically. It sends a notice to "you" that an approval has taken place (and provides a link). THE INVOICE (and Doing the Job): At the invoice overview, "you" can do a number of things... such as edit everything. You can specify payments that are made. You can specify the status of a job. You can track the job. TRACKING a JOB: Once a quote is approved and you are ready to start on a job, this build provides a job clock that records (down the second) the time you spend on a job. To track a job, simply click on "tracking" and enter the invoice number and "clock in". This starts the time. Clock out and in whenever you are working. Then, at the invoice overview, your time is noted. FINAL OVERVIEW: That is the basic overview of the build. However, there are a lot of little features including reports.. want to know what you made in a month?, Year?, day?. There is also an ASSETS link that lets you create categories and records to keep track of your equipment and software. I think I have set up this demo so that one can't do too much damadge playing around on it (but who knows) :-). No emails go out, one can't edit the core settings, and all the databases have been cleared out... so. Feel free to create a moch job and do a trial record keeping. I can answer any questions as well... or fix little issues if needed. Here it is: http://www.euca.us/dev/accountant/billing/accounting.html Let me know what you think about it.
