[WebDNA] WSDL Wizzard

This WebDNA talk-list message is from

It keeps the original formatting.
numero = 102164
interpreted = N
texte = Hello DNA'ers!, We are nearing a point where we have to decide what to do with the WSDL Wizzard for WebDNA, and I'd like to get some comments or opinions. I don't know that many people use this as it was only available for a short time before SMSI stopped support for WebDNA and perhaps before the spec changed (or servers changed) which, I think, caused the app to fail. It was also only available in the EE version of WebDNA. .. a bit about "the wizzard".. From my shallow understanding, the idea is that you can look for web services out there on the internet, interrogate the services, and then spit out code (WebDNA/XML) to use those services. Services could be whatever.. weather, realty, shipping etc.. It seems like a nice idea that has only marginally caught on in larger community. However, I still see signs of life in quite a lot of areas.. PHP forums, IDE's (NetBeans) etc.. Here is more on the subject for those that are interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Services_Description_Language http://www.w3.org/TR/wsdl20/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UDDI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_Object_Access_Protocol Scope and Status of "the Wizzard": There was *a lot* of work done implementing this stuff into WebDNA. Unfortunately, as it sits right now, It doesn't appear to work. Why? Well, I don't know exactly but I am guessing it has to do with protocol changes and services that have gone unsupported or that have changed in the last years. I haven't looked into this at any real depth yet, and currently, there is noone in the development team that is a WSDL Guru! So, we are all kind of shoving it to the corner and sneering at it once in a while knowing we will have to deal with it soon. ;-) So, we are approaching a time where we need to make some decisions with this feature. Do we invest in this WSDL thing to continue support for it? Do we can it? What is your experience with WSDL? Thanks, Donovan -- Donovan D.
