It is a priority (after WebCatalog 2.0 release) to increase the number of fields for the WebMerchant shopping cart format.>It isn't yet clear to us if we are restricted to using the fields listed >as required or reserved or if we can come up with our own fields which >are accessible from .tmpl to .tmpl and can also be passed on to >WebMerchant ? Any time you are putting stuff into a shopping cart (or sending to WebMerchant) you are limited to the fields we define in the cart.>If we can define our own, where do we define them and/or store them ? Is >there a separate database or text file where the standard and new fields >are defined and stored ?If you are using Commerce Lite, then I recommend you do not store them in the cart (you can't, so why try), but rather you should ask for that information on the last purchase page and simply include those fields in the outgoing email that gets sent to your fulfillment house. The data will not be stored in the cart, but at least you'll have it in the email. Alternately you may wish to create a parallel relational database that contains all the extra information you want. The cart number is the natural id for linking order files to database records that contain extra info.Grant Hulbert, V.P.
