I have referred to documentation and I guess I still don't quite fully understand.  Where does the example1.xml file come from?  I think I am still missing a piece of the puzzle...

Be sure to visit the documentation for xmlparse and xml nodes.  They
will explain how to parse the XML.

Try this:
