Linux stuff takes a little bit to get your head around, but you'll "get it" soon enough, and it will be some good basic knowledge to have. The way I personally like setting up a WebDNA Server (which is not the most secure way, but is secure enough in my opinion), is to allow group write access to most all the files that need to be written to by either your FTP/SFTP user or the WebDNA engine. Look in the archives for more specific info from me on that subject.Second, if you are the only admin accessing your server, you could just do one SFTP account for both the engine and HTTP root directory. You could read up on how to set up an SFTP account with your unique user and perhaps the the group that your files are using (which is much of the time the same group as what your web server is running as).As with anything Linux, there are many ways that admins like to set things up. So, ultimately, how you set up WebDNA, and how secure you want your server to be, is up to the admin... but the above info is probably a good start.DonovanOn Monday 18/03/2013 at 6:38 am, Stuart Tremain wrote:> I am setting up a Ubuntu 12.04 server with Webmin for a WebDNA 6.2.1 > installation.>> What are recommendations for setting up an FTP user that can access > /var/www & /user/lib/cgi-bin/WebCatalogEngine ?>> What permissions should I set ?>> Thanks>> Stuart Tremain> IDFK Web Developments> AUSTRALIA> webdna@idfk.com.au>>>>> ---------------------------------------------------------> This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to> the mailing list
