I always use the LTS (Long Term Support) versions of Ubuntu because they are well-supported for 5 years and there's tons of online resources available for Ubuntu to help answer questions. I have never tested the "WebDNA Server 8.5.1 for Ubuntu 15" but the "WebDNA Server 8.5.1 for Ubuntu 14" installer works great on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS except for one problem: It does not set the correct folder/file permissions ... This results in WebDNA failing to save to dbs (and may also prevent writing to existing and/or creating new files) until you recursively set user/group permissions for /var/www/html and /usr/lib/cgi-bin/WebCatalogEngine to www-data/www-data. Then it works just fine.
