Re: CGI Request Time Out
This WebDNA talk-list message is from 1997
It keeps the original formatting.
numero = 15637
interpreted = N
texte = >Does anybody recieve Request Time Out The Requested Cgi Application Did>Not RespondIf we take this message at face value, and don't assume there's some other subtle reason for it happening, it means that WebCatalog is taking a long time to handle all the requests lined up in front of that particular visitor's request. I believe WebSTAR has an option to change the timeout value, but that may not help too much because slow response is bad anyway.If you're running the beta you might be encountering the slowdown we've discussed before -- if so, then we should take this up over on the newly-created beta talk list. Send me personal mail to get on the beta talk list.One possible change is to switch to the plugin -- it can often handle more requests smoothly, and I don't think there's a timeout.The best thing to do is to examine the WebDNA of the page that's causing the slowdown -- perhaps there's a faster way to accomplish the same thing. The 2.0.1 release version has no known slowdowns caused by WebCatalog itself.You can stick [ElapsedTime] at the top of a template, and again at the bottom, to see how many 60ths of a second it takes WebCatalog to process the page. This may help you find sections that are slower than others.Grant Hulbert, V.P.
