Re: Limit to Field Length in DB

This WebDNA talk-list message is from

1998

It keeps the original formatting.
numero = 16734
interpreted = N
texte = >Is there a limit to the number of characters for any one field in a database?No, but you'll run into a
limit probably around 15K or so. Web browsers weren't really designed to handle huge amounts of text in forms.If you need the entire text of the story to be searchable, then you'll have to put all the text into a database field or fields. But if you just want searchable keywords, then you can leave the stories in files on disk, and just have the keywords and filenames stored in your database.Technical Support | ==== eCommerce and Beyond ==== Pacific Coast Software | WebCatalog, WebMerchant, 11770 Bernardo Plaza Court | SiteEdit Pro, PhotoMaster, San Diego, CA 92128 | Typhoon 619/675-1106 Fax: 619/675-0372 | http://www.smithmicro.com/ Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
