Checking for pre-existing passwords

texte = I have a form in which the customers enter their information along with their password. I use the [append] context to add the password and customer information to the db. What is the best way to test for passwords that have previously been used by other customers? Can I use [showIf] and then check the db to see if there are matching passwords?
