There was a template typo in the original 3.0.0 release that made ReadDateFormat = mdy instead of MDY. This causes many of the symptoms you mention, and has been fixed in the *admin templates* of 3.0.2 (mentioned in the Change History)By leaving out the preference entirely, WebCatalog assumes American-style dates, as in MDY.
