texte = Yes - Making the web is more than just coding the components you seeflashing on the screen... I agree. But also, making the components you see flashing on the screen can be donewell or badly and in most cases the difference between a well coded websiteand a piss poor crap one is technology independent. We just picked up a job of making text, graphical and linking changes to anexisting website coded in ASP.On the outside the site looked just fine but once we got our hands on thecode we couldn't believe our eyes. The site was made up of over 280 codefiles. There was not a single folder or directory structure for the site, not one single include was used, each file had its own style sheet andJavaScript code, as well as all the information necessary for the dynamicrollover menus and arrays. Etc It got worse as the coding within the HTMLfiles was so bad that I could only refresh my browser 5-7 times before itran out of memory and crashed.Building a good website is most times irrelevant of the platform ortechnology you use and comes down to standards, skill, forethought, providing what the client needs and getting it done within budget andtimeline constraints.Having a technology that does wizbang stuff is generally irrelevant to thecustomer. The customer is only really concerned with a lack of uptime, speed, security or or backup/stability when it isn't there. On 6/8/02 12:19 PM, Stuart Tremain
