This has two benefits:1- It insures that a newly uploaded file will never overwrite a previously uploaded file;2- it lets you put whatever extension on the uploaded file that you feel like putting on that file -- which means you can prevent someone from uploading a .tpl file and doing bad things via webdna if you just rename all uploaded files with a .gif extension for example.
