I found the site ='www.alistapart.com' to be an incredible resource, it showed me how to =do things that I didn't think could be done using CSS.So far I have done two standards compliant sites:-http://www.enovation.ie - Livehttp://www3.technofutures.ie - Under developmentOne major problem that I came across was that the ampersand (&) could =not be used as part of the URL if the site was to be XHTML compliant. =To get around this on the site above (the under development one) I had =to make the URLS search engine safe so to speak.I managed to do this using a 'modRewrite' directive in a 'htaccess' =file. This redirects all requests except those for images and css files =to a template called 'parser.tmpl' which splits the requested URL and =then searches databases and includes file based on the results. So the following URL :-=http://www.nala.ie/press/news_list.tmpl?sec=3D3&_eqSKUdatarq=3D2001091013=3535becomes :-http://www2.technofutures.ie/press/pressreleases/20010910133535.htmlI know others have achieved similar results by using a custom 'error.db' =but as I do not host directly I was having problems ensuring that all =requested URLs got passed through my 'parser.tmpl' template.I would be happy to share any or all the code I used to make this work. =It would also be useful if anyone can find flaws with my logic or =implementation.- Tom-------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list
