Basically, it appears to function like yours, only my image names are not the same value as the "this.value". They needed to be looked up, preloaded and set in an array, prior to selection. The selection then passes three values to the function which parses out the image filename. Anyway, I keep telling myself that I should really delve into java / javascript.. but I seem destined to learn only a bit at a time. :-/ thx for your help.
