I'm using the Economy VPS that GoDaddy offers which is about $30/month for 40GB HD and 1GB RAM. I haven't pushed the limits of what the server could do yet, but of course that's always a function of programming finesse and database design. The setup was no more difficult than setting up servers in my own data center, but the steps were slightly different. I'm using Webmin instead of cPanel. Since I have 3 production machines with more on the way, for me it made more sense to pay for an extra VPS to use as my backup server. I use the built in features of Webmin to archive my websites to my 4th server every day instead of paying GoDaddy for their backup service. When the new version of WebDNA 6.x is released I'll be setting up several more and I expected to fully document the process for WSC and the community here. As for emails... When it comes to GoDaddy, you could set up their email plan for any domain name. You could set up a VPS, host a domain on the VPS, then use the GoDaddy email service plan. This is much easier than trying to manage emails on the VPS where you would have to deal with anti-spam and anti-virus issues. It might be less expensive to host emails on your own VPS, but it's certainly not savings of time. -Matthew Perosi On 1/21/2013 8:33 PM, Jym Duane wrote: > has anyone have a successful complete setup procedure for hosting V7 > with one of the big hosting companies in their inexpensive cloud > hosting environments. > > godaddy > enom > network solutions > > hostgator > 1and1 > bigrock > > or is webdna available as an install with anyone other than amazon > (which seems complex even for a techie like me) > > still looking for simple and cheep way to move some sites > currently hosted on own server > to a hosting where ram and size can be adjusted or is unlimited for > future. > also that has backups. > and has email service > > jym > > > -- > Matthew A Perosi > Corporate Consultant > Mobile Marketing Expert > Senior Web Developer > SEO Analyst & Educator > > Psi Prime, Inc. > 323 Union Blvd. > Totowa, NJ 07512 > > Direct: 888.872.0274 > Fax: 888.488.5924 > > http://www.perosi.com Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
