[WebDNA] Attack?

Last month it was a ton o= f emails that used my return address but didn't get post with my SMTP server= , and my console logs showed constant attempts to get through ports (OS X se= rver, no one got in). The constant activity would crash WebCat. That went away, but now I have been getting a ton (hundreds sent in a few mi= nutes of each other, several times a day) of Sendmail generated emails, that= again crashes WebCat. I now require authentication to for Sendmail, and I s= aw a small number of attempts in the email log, before, presumably giving up= . We shall see. Is there any way this is not an attack, but WebCat somehow gone crazy? I hav= e looked at the email folders and there are not any emails in there or being= generated, like I would expect if it was some kind of loop. There have been= no recent changes to the one and only page (out of thousands) that uses Sen= dmail - in fact I commented out the Sendmail code earlier today. I have had to restart the server four times today, and I am hoping the authe= ntication puts an end to the attack(?) at least until they find another DOS v= ector.
