That's why I could use a 'restart' command for WebDNA that will actually work from inside a [shell] context. If you know the proper command that should work please tell me and I'll try it again. It's been a couple year since I worked on this, and I cannot find any reference to the restart command in the online docs. > From the command line, start, stop as well as restart work > fine, as far as I know. But do the same commands work from within the [shell] context? The reason I ask because shell scripts sometimes do not work the same inside a [shell] context as when typed into a Terminal window. Here's my situation: I want to give my client, the owner of the server, a WebDNA-based admin tool that will let him remotely restart WebDNA (or better yet, reboot the server) if he discovers a problem while I am not available. This is a capability that any programmer/host in my situation might want to give his clients. I worked on this a couple years ago but ran into a little problem: When I tried restarting WebDNA by entering the command in a Terminal window it worked, but when I used the same command in a shell script it failed. I never took it any further back then. Maybe the problem was that the same command in WebDNA's [shell] context failed because WebDNA is not 'root'?
