texte = I have built an online store selling boutique clothing and accessories which is doing very well. The client now wants to implement the sale and redemption of gift certificates. Selling the certificates is relatively straightforward. Implementing a scheme to redeem the certificates struck me as doable but somewhat complex. The rough idea is that when we sell a certificate, it is for a preset amount and the purchaser give us the name and address of the person we are to send the certificate to. This is then entered in the physical retail store's inventory management system. When someone wants to redeem the certificate they can either bring the certificate in to the store, call the 800 number, or somehow redeem it on the website. The client is content for knowledge of the amount and name on the certificate to validate possesion of it. The certificate would then be marked as used in the store's inventory management system.I would like to hear from persons who have implemented similar schemes and have solutions running that they would care to share. Also, anyone with bright ideas as to how this might be done most elegantly or any pitfalls that lie ahead. Thanks,Rob Schmidt rschmidt@panix.com Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
