Can a Get or Post throw off a Ping?

texte = Can a Get or a Post used in conjunction with webcatalog cause a browser to throw off a ping (port number 7 I think). The reason I ask is I work on a server set that has been under a ping attack from several sources. But in reviewing the ping log I see a bunch of 728 byte pings that seem to line up with visitor's ip addresses being in the site at the same time. I should have a SonicWall firewall in place in the next few days that blocks both pings and syn floods automatically. Yet if the Get or Post action in some browsers throws off a 728 byte ping then by blocking pings I might mess up my webcatalog expected actions.Might be 100% random that I see both the 728 byte pings and the same ip address at the same time on the site. But I had to ask to make sure. :)=============================================== Gary Richter PanaVise Products, Inc. 7540 Colbert Dr. Reno, Nevada 89511 Ph: 702.850.2900 Fx: 702.850.2929 Email: grichter@panavise.com http://www.panavise.com =============================================== Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
