I have that part of the site all working and working quite well. Basically, I create a db record with the user's particular profile information. In that record is a username which is guaranteed to by unique and an SKU which is also unique. The user creates and we store their password and e-mail address among other things.Once the user has entered their data, we assign a validation code and e-mail it to the user at the e-mail address that they specified. The user is instructed to tcheck their e-mail and re-enter the site to login. Here's where I want someone to check out my logic...I have developed two pages a login.tpl and a validate.tpl. The login tpl asks the visitor for their username and password and submits to the validate.tpl.The validate tpl checks for valid username and password. If either of these is incorrect the user is told that they made an error and are instructed to use their browser's back button. If the username and password are correct, see if the user has already validated based on the value of the accesscode in the database. If it's validated, then redirect the user to the main page of the site.If the username and password are correct, but the user hasn't validated yet, they get a form to input their access code. The validate.tpl submits to itself and continues until the user provides a valid accesscode or gives up.Of course there will be a shortcut out of the system in case the user has lost their password or access code, they can have that info mailed to them at the e-mail address that we have in their database.Anyone want to do some serious looking and see if I've covered all bases? Thanks, ___Joe___P.S. I didn't release the code here as it would present a security for the site. Not that I don't trust everyone on this list ;) So I will have to supply a version of the templates that strips out all the fluff and disguises the site's specifics._________________________________________________ Joseph D'Andrea JoeDan@West21.com WEST21.com Internet services for the 21st Century http://www.west21.com/ _________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------- Brought to you by CommuniGate Pro - The Buzz Word Compliant Messaging Server.
