texte = Karl,We do appreciate the input. Like everyone else, we have to prioritize tasks against our available resources, and that means that some issues will get addressed ahead of others. Sometimes that means fixes to critical bugs will get more attention than those that have a viable work around. Sometimes that will mean that we'll apply our resources to working on new enhancements that our customer base views as high value instead of issues that have a viable work around. But even issues with a work around can become sufficiently annoying to enough people or frequency that they eventually become more critical to address. Our 4.5.1 maintenance release will be out soon, so I'll talk to Scott about where this fits in our list of priorities and what would be involved in investigating it further. There is no network outage when this happens. There is nothing written in the Emaillog file maintained by WebCatalog when this happens (ie, can't connect to mail server etc.). Email just stops going out and the only thing that fixes it is reboot or webcat restart. This is now happening about daily, and as I said I will give terminal access so you can see for yourself. We are throwing in the towel and will use Windows' smtp server. But SM should look into this. They should also pick up the ball on the Mac Emailer attachment problem I reported about a year ago (and Scott initally looked at but then dropped). Most vendors would not be content to let their customers have to resort to alternative products (SIMS, Windows smtp) just to get their product to handle critical functionality, such as sending email from a website. It's sort of a joke that the answer to these problems is to find another software product to deal with WebCatalog's shortcomings. > From: Scott Anderson > Reply-To: (WebCatalog Talk) > Date: Tue, 19 Nov 2002 13:20:31 -0800 > To: (WebCatalog Talk) > Subject: Re: SMITH MICRO: FW: Emailer stops on Win 2000 > > There used to be a problem where the emailer would get stuck trying to send > an email file that was empty.
