Already have it working on Windows IIS with MSSQL for over a year but ran into a completely unforeseen roadblock with MSSQL from OSX -- which I now MUST make work because of my investment in OSX servers and the WebCat license for OSX. Regarding Windows IIS and MSSQL, it works great. We get all the benefits of outside access to the data as well as front end server farming to the back end data source, No memory issues with large data sets, etc. No real issues to speak of. Some oddities with URL'ing the sql string for LIKE searches but that's about it. Now OSX on the other hand. I have MSSQL successfully doing queries, inserting, etc. when the code is correct. Something that I am told is not supposed to be working. However, I do NOT have any usable copy being returned on errors. The only thing that is NOT working I might add. On IIS a SQL error comes back as a usable string (invalid column for example). On OSX it comes back as gobbley gook. I am working with the ODBC developer to resolve this. He in turn will probably be trying to get some advice/support from SMSI. Quite frankly my expectation that he will not receive much support (hasn't in the past) but am hopeful (HINT HINT) that he will receive good support from them this time! (in case SMSI missed that I said HINT HINT) So I guess it depends on what SQL you want to use, what platform you intend to do it on, but when it works, you can do some seriously complicated SQL actions without a hiccup. HTH Alex When I get the OSX driver setup and working I will share the needed info with everyone here. The cost is amazingly low (if it works) and other than the error BS was a simple (no unix) setup in tiger.
