Although I can now claim creation of 3 different CMS' I now spend most of my time monitoring my server room for SEO ideas and analysis, and I spend a lot of time reading and learning. All this knowledge is put to use at public speaking gigs, article writing, eBooks and a few physical books I am about to publish.I've never analyzed how WSC would, or should, show up in Google, but the Germany hosting mentioned below is a problem.I do see that one Google Webmaster Tools account has claimed ownership of webdna.us. Within the GWT account there is a setting to indicate what country you want to market your website to. GWT has this feature because in previous years Google would only show websites in the SERP according to the TLD and country of the host IP address. Websites were ranked lower if the TLD and the IP address didn't match. As hosting became available worldwide this became an issue so Google gave us the ability to choose target countries so the IP address variable could be overridden. However, there is a problem which has been well covered in Google videos and at Google live seminars. The selected country in the GWT account is not guaranteed. The only way to guarantee targeting a specific country is to host your website within that country. If, within the GWT account you do select United States then you suddenly vastly lower your ranking in all the other English speaking countries.I stuck with WebDNA a few years ago because I strongly believed it would not go away. Whatever the future marketing plan is for WSC there should be a serious consideration for hosting different versions of the site in different countries. And if you do take this step I can offer a registration address in France when you go for the .fr domain name.MattOn 1/22/2011 1:05 PM, Dan Strong wrote:> Also, I'm pretty sure the site is hosted in Germany (209.236.238.140 - > http://www.infosniper.net/index.php?ip_address=209.236.238.140 ), and > for us in the USA, it does seem to add a few extra milliseconds to the > hops to get there, but as I said, for me, it's negligible.
