texte = I'm finding this thread interesting.I've managed to use WebDNA since 1997 without ever needing to tie it into ODBC or any outside SQL database. At one point, many years ago, I even had more than 100 small websites with at least 10 DB's each running on a single machine without any trouble.I've also had a few extremely large singe sites on dedicated machines. One such site is still running with more than 500 DB's, many of which are 40MB each. That same website also runs an old UBBThreads forum using mySQL. I have to say, I pretty much hate the maintenance I have to do on mySQL every once in a while. I've even tried to convince this customer to move to the WebDNA forums, as soon as they became freely available. From a maintenance point of view, as developers, I think we should be happy that WebDNA will be a separate animal. How many times have each of you been forced to upgrade other parts of your website because your host was forcing an upgrade of mySQL, PHP, or Apache which would result in visible errors? The recent PHP 5.2 to 5.3 upgrade cause plenty of havoc for my clients hosting WordPress, Moodle, and other PHP CMS'. Each time this happens the client is forced to pay someone to then upgrade their site. With WebDNA we have the ability to look a client right in the eye and tell them that they will have a website developed faster from prototype to production, we can assure them that they will have fewer redevelopments because of outside factors, and it will be more stable through the years than any other language or database they choose... at least that's part of my sales pitch because I've been here long enough to have the experience to prove it.-MattOn 2/2/2012 6:09 PM, christophe.billiottet@webdna.us wrote:> Yes, this is why 7.0 remains available and why we ported all 7.1 fixes to 7.0>> The differences between 7.0 and 7.1 are> - a 7.1 64bits OSX version will finally exists> - there will only be two linux versions: 32bits and 64bits> - no more dependencies which will greatly simplify installation> - at the cost of libmysql>> If i were to name the greatest WebDNA feature, i would say it is its embedded ultrafast database system.
