A server with one or two HUGE databases (over 100 Megs RAM) will naturally be tied up more in searches and carry less load. And if you are hitting the disk with table appends quite often, it will slow down. That's WebCAT independent. If you want every e-commerce feature and the kitchen sink calculated, it will slow down. Other than that, it is quite speedy. Separating out the graphics and non-webcat pages to a separate server is a great performance booster. Check out biap.net (?)'s new product to share across computers for this type of stuff. On the Mac, the plugin is faster than the .acgi. If you need SSL and want the plugin, you need WebTEN or multiple computers to handle SSL and non-SSL with WebStar.Reminds of the price of a car quote given by a computer consultant when discussing projects. Only when details are specified will it be learned if the car is a Hyundai or BMW.Good luck!Sandy
