Your solution is clear, either get a host who > will install it properly, or get your own computer and install it properly > yourself. No more whining. End of story. The simple fact is that the current setup for Webcatalog is as an Apache module, which most hosting companies that are not running WebCatalog themselves may not want to install it on their own production servers housing dozens or hundreds of hosting customers, because it would require special settings to keep everyone BUT you from using Webcatalog on that server. You need to either a) sell it off and go with someplace that hosts Webcatalog SITES, b) rent/lease a dedicated server, and install Webcatalog on it depending on transmittal needs I have seem some major dedicated server hosting places offering Unix/Linux boxes for about $100/month, but don't remember details of plans. c) buy your own server (figure you can pick up an IBM Netfinity PIII/500 128meg ram rack mounted system for $2500, RedHat Linux is cheap, and install Webcatalog, then just find a co-location company (though the dedicated box at most places will run you less then buying and co-locating your own box.But for the most part as someone that has worked with many startup, small companies both on and off of the web, including our own company, you really need to do more research and testing into a product before dropping $2500 on it, because from the sound of it you went from someone telling you Oh its easy to setup, and to operate.. Well to some of us, that is true, and for others that is not true... the only and best way to know is to play, test, and play some more with demo versions until you are sure of the product you are buying. I don't know if you are a PC or Mac user, but if you are a PC users I would have bought RedHat Linux, installed it and Webcatalog on a system and tested the product out, if on a Mac I would have bought Virtual PC 3.0, and installed RedHat on it, and tested WebCatalog again the same way. This is like going out one day, buying a car, but you a) dont know how to drive yet, and b) never test drove the car.. then wondering why you cant figure out how to use the car, or why the car does not meet your needs.Test Drive, Do research, Test Drive, Do Research... repeat as often as needed.. the only way to do business in this world. All I can say is good luck. ------------------------------------------------------------- Brought to you by CommuniGate Pro - The Buzz Word Compliant Messaging Server.
