Re: Passwords, Subscription, DBs, oh my!

This WebDNA talk-list message is from

2000

It keeps the original formatting.
numero = 35661
interpreted = N
texte = Well you can either use the users.db and [protect] tag (see docs), or else you can use your own customAccess.db and the [authenticate] tag (again see docs). Look in the WebCatalogEngine folder of the webcat bundle you received for MultiGroupChecker. Study it. Post questions.If you go the users.db route, then I think it must be fairly simply but I can't say how to go about it... If you go the roll-your-own custom route, then when the user submits the form where he inputs his chosen username and password, you'll need to make sure the username he chose is unique *before* you append his record to your customAccess.db (and perhaps also to the users.db if you use the built-in stuff... I haven't looked to see how they handle it.). Actaully I have only done it the custom way since I have never had access to the webcat admin area so I can't use the built in users.db and tools that probably make it easier to go that route then building a custom version. But I have the custom thing working great, so either way you know you have support.This is a start.:-)-JohnRobert McPeak wrote:> Best if they choose, I think.
