texte = John-Thank you for the thought provoking feedback earlier...I added theAddHandler instruction in httpd.conf and restarted Apache and I nowget the following message:**************WebDNA - Commerce Edition: This serial number is invalid. Please enter a valid serial number.**************So I must be on the right path.My next question is this. Where can I get the Serial Number forWebCatalog? Background: I have been asked by my (new) client to take over WebCatalogwhich I learned on my own through review of the syntax. The client nowneeds me to migrate the software off a Linux RedHat box and onto myFreeBSD 4.4 box. I spoke to SmithMicro on the phone and even throughtheir online tech message posting service and on every occasion I havebeen told I can migrate the site/license without issue or cost. They(SmithMicro) instructed me to copy the Users.db, Triggers.db, andWebCatalog Prefs files and I should be good to go. My client isabsolutely clueless as to any aspect of their software. The person thatinstalled it initially is long gone from the picture. Can you help?-----Original Message-----From: WebDNA Talk [mailto:WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com] On Behalf OfDougSent: Friday, February 07, 2003 3:11 PMTo: WebDNA TalkSubject: Re: How To get Some HelpThank you for your reply, John.1. People on this list have other jobs to do; they respond toquestions for various reasons: because they love the language and remember beingnew themselves, an obsessive need to demonstrate their knowledge, or justbecause they are bored. SMSI monitors this list, but does not control it oranswer every help request. This is a user supported forum. As such, you needto realize that either no one _can_ help you if you don't get a response ina reasonable time (24 hours is not out of bounds), or possibly even thatno one _wants_ to help you because you are clearly out of your depth. I don'tthink that (not enough information yet ;~), but your repeated postings are nothopeful signs. Now, as to your actual error message, you need to give us a lot moreinformation before anyone can give you any help. If I remember from your earlierpostings, you are running FreeBSD and installed using the script installation. Canyou successfully access any portion of the TeaRoom example site? I have asuspicion that your installation was not sucessful and hence the WebCat handlerfor tpl files is not active. It is not likely that you have any permissionsissue at all. Normally, you _shouldn't_ have any access to files that are notmarked executable inside a cgi-bin directory. It is only through theYou should examine your Apache log files and make sure that the WebCatplugin for Apache loaded without errors. You should then confirm that theTeaRoom example site functions correctly. It may be that your installation ofApache is non-standard and the changes the installation script made were to aninactive configuration file.HTHJohnp.s. the default permissions for WebCat as installed are correct; allyou need to do is look at the demo site for the correct rights-- John PeacockDirector of Information Research and TechnologyRowman & Littlefield Publishing Group4501 Forbes BoulevardSuite HLanham, MD 20706301-459-3366 x.5010fax 301-429-5748-------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list
