I just can=E2=80=99t understand why a=nyone would want to have their own hardware anymore.After having our own hardware both onsite and i=n a datacenter I have been given a new lease on life by not having to deal w=ith any of that now by using cloud services.I won=E2=80=99t even have a dev box in the office a=nymore, it is far cheaper and easier to pay a 3rd party $5 a month to have a= development server than it is to have something in a rack taking up space &=amp; power in the office.All we have now is 2 NAS boxes in the office plus 20+ servers with A=mazon, Linode, Digital Ocean & Nexcess. The system we have built at Amaz=on we could never replicate with our own hardware and be financially viable,= or for that case have the technical expertise to maintain. No need to carry= spare HDs or other circuitry, no need for a network engineer, no more call o=uts to deal with hardware issues at 11:30pm on Christmas night after a hard d=ay or partying. I can even administer servers from 30,000+ feet in an aeropl=ane these days. I've used the Webmin GUI on Linux for more than a decade, and I
have never missed my old Apple/Mac servers since I switched.
Webmin lets me do practically everything I need to do o=n a server
via its GUI interface. First I use the VPS host's c=ontrol panel to
setup the initial OS, then I install and use W=ebmin for everything
else.
I do n=ot expect anyone who's been running Apple servers for
so long t=o want to learn a new system. After all humans are
creat=ures of habit who are often determined resist change,
sometime=s for far longer than they should.
But ...
If the time comes that a dedicated Apple fan decide=s to switch,
using Webmin to manage a Linux server makes a lot= of sense.
