texte = I am new to this list as well as to WebCatalog. It's easy to bash SM andsay that they are trying to compete with us but I don't think it is in theirbest interest. What they are doing is creating a demand for their productand our services. No one company can be the single source for everyone whowants to work with WebCatalog. There will always be people who don't wantto work with SM for a variety of reasons whether it is because they want towork with someone in their geographic area or they prefer a smaller companywhere they can get more personalized attention. There are also going to bethose accounts that are not financially attractive to SM but will be tosmaller firms such as ourselves. Look at how Microsoft has created a marketfor their software and given MCSEs the ability to charge a premium for theirservices. Don't you think that if WebCatalog becomes a household name thoseof you who are experienced in WebDNA and have build sites using WebCatalogwill be in demand and will be able to charge more for you services?Lastly I think that the people who work with the product everyday and have apractical knowledge of how it works can provide the best solutions toproblems that arise. This talk list should be used to share knowledge amongprofessional developers so that we can further our knowledge and learn fromeach others experience. By doing this we increase the value our customersreceive from us as well as the fees we can charge.Nicholas Carretta-----Original Message-----From: WebCatalog Talk [mailto:WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com]OnBehalf Of Jeff LoganSent: Tuesday, January 25, 2000 11:58 AMTo: WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.comSubject: Smith Micro - no competitionBig deal if Smith Micro wants to do ecommerce business along with therest of us.
