I could drop the failed files into the IIS SMTP dropbox and they would go but not via WebDNA in exactly the same manner as you describe. I ended up sending mail to a different SMTP server and all has been perfect for about 5 years. I suspect it is an IIS problem or an IIS SMTP config problem because I have Merak (Icewarp) on a second server with WebDNA running and have no problem sending mail from that server. I have turned off IIS SMTP on it. There is also another problem in sending mail on the windows platform that no one has ever been able to solve for me, however I believe that it may be a bug in WebDNA in the part that sends the mail to the SMTP server. I have been lead to believe this as I was discussing it with a SMTP expert who told me that they had the same problem with some software some years ago. The problem only occurs when you are sending a large number of emails at the same time such as a newsletter to 1,000 recipients. The logs record the email as being sent once, the but the recipient may receive it upto 100 times. It is not always the same recipient, not every recipient, there is no pattern to the problem but after changing everything else over 2 years of trying many many different scenarios, the only thing that has not changed is WebDNA.
