texte = Can't speak for the rest but when dealing with POS terminals, say Micros forexample, there are warranty issues governing 3rd party software co-existingon the same box. If we use those same resources (eg web server, db server.Etc.) ....if the shit hit the fan, major up-time issues and finger pointingoccurs.WebDNA has a small footprint ....has its own internal DB and if embeddedwith its own integrated light server (just enough to run WebDNA and its DB)....that would be perfect since the primary vendor for the POS cannot claimthat the sharing of services or resources would complicate the safe runningof the POS Enterprise solution. There are many clients wishing to offer moreintegrated options like PDA ordering systems, tablet menus etc.., however, the primary vendors are charging an arm and a leg if they have a solution ormany just do not offer anything unless it comes with serious $$$ boxupgrades and a whole bunch of added new cost. So, in we come as developersto bridge that gap and a runtime solution fits nicely.Realbasic, now called Xojo has such a thing. That said, WebDNA is seriouslya beautiful way to program and I prefer that over any others I have seen.Multidmedia for example, allows development in Flash, integrating it withother 3rd party runtime and if WebDNA is one of them ...way cool too. Maybeit is time WebDNA slept around with other partners to see if a solidsymbiotic partnership can be formed. The initial cost to evolve a runtimeversion, even if it is for an elite group or many, one platform or more isstill the same ....HUGE. Going at it alone, too me ....is not going tomaterialize ....unless a sugar daddy (investors) pops in ....and you are notgoing to get that unless there is a tangible future or path for progression.I know it is just that ...a wish ....not practical at this point in time forWebDNA Software. You guys got way too much to do with limited resources soit would be best to focus on first walking right before attempting to runwith new ideas. Nope, it will not enlarge you customer base at the presenttime. Runtime versions are best suited for closed solutions. I have used itfor MIS and business process automation and yes there is a market ....but,without the proper tools ....difficult to see how big it can get.Now days, we are being asked to developed a lot of web based R.I.A. ....anda WebDNA plug-in (mini-runtime monsters so to speak) that works with Chromebrowsers would be super-cool. Just like Xojo Web Applications ....they justreleased their version and I am exploring ....so will revert back if folksare interested. Again, I am happy with WebDNA but times are changing fastand what I see is the "Kodak" moment .....great yesterday but will be gonetomorrow if we do not keep abreast with emerging main stream technologiesand reinvent what WebDNA has to offer. Will you take WebDNA away from me ....not on your life but I am getting oldand have not seen a lot of changes to WebDNA since way back "WebCatalog"days ....essentially, it is still the same with different packaging. All theother software I use ....have been introducing more and more changes, takingdifferent paths and evolving. Alas, some has even died out. WebDNA ....isstill around and kicking. For that, I am eternally grateful because it hashelped me put my children through University and brought joy to myprogramming life ....always found a way to get things done with WebDNA.So ...yes, I would love a runtime version (web app) but am pragmatic. Thatsaid ...my blessings and well wishes to all especially the WebDNA owners andstaff that are still fighting the good fight. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.....wishing you more good years ahead.Cheers Terry Donald Nair-----Original Message-----From: christophe.billiottet@webdna.us[mailto:christophe.billiottet@webdna.us] Sent: Friday, November 29, 2013 15:07To:
