<=div>I found many years ago onsite hosting of 2 x 24row server racks, plus t=he fibre connection, plus the specially fitted server room, plus electricit=y, plus, plus, plus was just too much to have to deal with. One Christmas n=ight after a very long lunch, plenty of wine and food, time with family and= friends, my monitoring alarms went off. At 6am the next day I finally left= the premises after getting everything back online after a switch had faile=d further upstream in the network to which I had no access. December 26 was= the first day of my mission to get rid of all the hardware. Now with all h=osting left to the businesses that have 24x7 staff and their millions of do=llars of investment in networking, hardware and redundancy I still get a fe=w issues with servers going off-line, but the best part is it is usually a =reboot that I can do with my phone while still half asleep. If it is a more= serious issue then I simple do what you would be doing with your own serve=r equipment - the difference is that I can do it anywhere I have internet c=onnection and a minimum of an iPad or my old 12=E2=80=9D MacBook.

The benefits are numerous. I have been able to down scale busines=s premises, employ less staff, be far more flexible with my working arrange=ments - sitting on a beach 3,500 kms north of Sydney I am able to conduct b=usiness without clients knowing I am not in my office at my desk.

For everyone that is hosting sites on Mac from an on-site ser=ver you really need to ask yourselves:

1) =C2=A0=E2=80==9CWhat is the importance of a good, stable, fast web presence to my busine=ss?=E2=80=9D

2) =C2=A0=E2=80=9CCan my business aff=ord US$10.00 a month so that my website/s can be hosted on the very latest ==C2=A0dedicated virtual Linux server with 2TB of data transfer a month ?=E2==80=9D

3) =E2=80=9CDoes each new build of Apple OS= cause me hosting problems?"

Then you will th=ink that you don=E2=80=99t have command line expertise on a linux system, t=hat is very easily overcome with a GUI that services thousands of servers a=round the world.

If security is an issue, you can =have a rock solid firewall at no cost.

Backup your= server for an additional US$2/month.

Got an idea =that involves more hardware, a second server etc - then cloud hosting gives= you the ability to try it for a hour/day/week/month and all you have commi=tted is $10 or so.

If you employ a hosting company= that specialises in WebDNA hosting such as Zarcrom then you don=E2=80=99t =even have to worry about the server environment, all you need to work on is= your website.

Consider if= trying to save $10/month is worth your time and anguish.

my newer 2009 mac is maxed out on ev=erything and gets a faster connection yet serves the web pages very slow...=

I can't seem to keep either server running...=! modifications work then new issue starts...=C2=A0
